Effective in 2017, privately owned buildings in Los Angeles that are 20,000 square feet or more and buildings owned by the City that are 7,500 or more are required to be benchmarked, and owners must disclose annual energy and water consumption. Privately owned buildings that are 20,000 square feet or more must begin reporting on June 1, 2019. Following the initial year of compliance, buildings must continue to report by June 1st of each year.
